Hostgator Review
Hostgator started out in 2002 by Brent Oxley and grew to become a massive web hostingcompany. Hostgator is one of the fastest growing private companies in the United States. They have all kinds of customers, from novice computer users who are beginners to web hosting, to the computer-literate experts. Because of this, Hostgator has several hosting plans to find and meet everyone’s needs. This review is for the Hatchling plan.
This basic Hatchling plan includes:
· Unlimited disk space
· Unlimited bandwidth
· Sitebuilder
· 24/7 support
· 99.9% uptime guarantee
· 45 day money back guarantee
· Free setup
· Unlimited MySQL databases
· Unlimited Pop3 email accounts
· Spam protection
· Shared SSL
These are only some of the many features available. This plan comes at a price of $4.95 per month. Other plans have more features and upgrades available. Hostgator tries hard to fit itself to the customer’s need, so they are definitely an option when considering a web hosting plan.
TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS SPECIAL HOSTGATOR DISCOUNT FOR JUST $4.95 PER MONTH!!! NO COUPON CODE REQUIRED, YOU MUST CLICK HERE!!

Windows vs. Linux
Some web hosts prefer to only offer either Windows or Linux, while other web hosts offer both.
Windows is the standard operating system that’s been around longer. There are always new parts to the software being developed. It has a very basic design which makes it easy for anyone to use.
Linuxis a multi-user based operating system. It can be modified to fit the user’s needs. Linux has grown enough to be installed on phones, computer hardware, servers, and more.
Linux is known for its adaptability. Different users want different things done in a different way. Because of this, many users prefer Linux since it can be changed to fit their needs and make things easier. However, many people are not very computer literate and would have a hard time dealing with Linux software.
Windows has more basic ways of getting things done. It takes more steps, so it usually takes longer. However, since it is so much easier to follow, many people would prefer the extra steps so they would know what to do. If you are familiar with using windows on your computer, but a beginner to web hosting, then a windows program for web hosting may be easier for you.
Both systems have their flaws and advances. Windows is often releasing updates and Linux is always creating new and better software. Either one works well, so it’s really down to the user to choose which one they prefer. Make sure when choosing a web host that they offer the system you prefer to work with.

Building an ecommerce web site may not be as easy as you believe. When considering doing business online there are a few key things you need to look for including: shopping carts, payment gateway or merchant account, web host, and security. These are not the only thing you need to consider but are vital to your online business success.
- Shopping Carts: Just because a hosting package includes a free shopping cart does not mean that shopping cart is going to be able to do everything you need it to. Your business needs may not be the same as someone else. For instance someone with a Mom and Pop homebased business selling arts and crafts will have much different shopping cart needs than someone who is designing a web site for a major retail store. Some people may be able to use free shopping carts included in a web host package, others may choose to purchase shopping cart software programs, while yet others still may choose to used a web based shopping cart service that will build and manage their shopping cart.
- Payment gateway and/or merchant account: In order to run any business on the internet a payment gateway and/or merchant account is a must. Merchant accounts are set up through a financial institution that sets you up with the ability to accept credit cards. Once you process the payment the credit card company sends money to the bank, they then take a percentage, then deposit the rest in your account. A payment gateway, such as PayPal or Google Checkout is similar in that it allows you to process credit cards, they take their cut, and send you the balance.
- Ecommerce Web Host: Not all web hosts are designed the same. If you are looking to build an ecommerce web site then a free web site is not the way to go. Even cheap web hosts are not always equiped to grow with you as your business grows. Even if you start out with a small cheap web host package, look for an ecommerce web host that can accommodate your needs as your business web site grows. Look for things like SSL certificates, dedicated IP addresses, VPS (virtual private server), shopping cart compatibility etc…
- Security: You not only need to protect your customer and their information but you as well. SSL certificates are what provides security for a web site. They encrypt customer information during transmission so hackers cannot steal it and use it fraudulently. SSL certificates come in 40, 128, and 256 bit encryption.
As you can see, building an ecommerce web site is a little more complicated than just throwing a few web pages together, slapping some product pictures in there, and waiting for the money to start rolling in. But if you will take a look at your business, your needs, and educate yourself on these few items it will be a lot easier.

In our last post we did a review of GoDaddy’s products and services. They obviously have everything you could possibly need to build, host, market, and secure your web site. GoDaddy is offering discounts on many of their products but today we are going to concentrate on their domain registration products.
GoDaddy is an accredited domain registrar for ICANN. All domain registrations have to go through an ICANN accredited agency before they are approved for the web. Other web host may partner with an accredited registrar to assist you with domain registration, but they do not directly register your domain.

I am sure most of you have seen a GoDaddy commercial or two. If not, you can view their commercials on their website. I was going to do a full review of all of GoDaddy’s web hosting products and services (which are plentiful). But, if you are interested in knowing more about web hosting plans, domain registrations, business email, auctions, or their marketplace visit their site by clicking here. They are an accredited domain registrar with ICANN which means they can provide you with a number of domain services as well as many products to compliment your domain. And, might I mention, they are having some awesome deals right now.
But, I specifically wanted to mention that GoDaddy also participates in a long list of charities. They have a full page dedicated to the number of charities they donate too. Not only do the big wigs donate but they often get their staff of over 700 to participate in them as well. They have done amazing things for The Humane Society, MADD, Juvenile Diabetes, Toys for Tots, the Salvation Army, and the list goes on and on.
I just wanted to give GoDaddy a two thumbs up for making a difference, especially in times when many of these organizations need all the help they can get! You GO! Go Daddy!
